Singing birds

I may be dating myself but the song “Love is in the air”  comes to mind as I sit here listening to the birds singing away outside.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous today and they are forecasting more of the same for Saturday and Sunday.  We had some thunderstorms race up the coast and dumped some much needed rain which in turn washed away a lot of the pollen that has been driving some of us into endless sneezing fits and swollen noses.  I have been very fortunate in that the pollen count has not affected me too much this time around.

I loved the weather today but I do not love the flying teeth (gnats) that are here in the lowcountry.  We traveled over to the Johns Island Pizza this afternoon for an early supper and splurged and got one of their meat lovers carnivore pizzas and a bottle of coke.  That was enough pizza for all four of us to have two pieces and a drink.  We came home and then decided that we would take the puppies out in the front yard and play with them and sit and enjoy the weather and quiet neighborhood.  The puppies are two weeks old and just as cute as they can be.  I am plotting on getting rid of them in another 3 to 4 weeks when they are ready to eat solid food.  If you know someone that wants some CUTE Lab puppies let me know and we can hook them up.

Today we sent Willie, our 14 month old Lab to live with his new owner.  I put an ad out on Craigslist and it took me about a week but I finally found someone that really wanted him and I felt would take care of him.  I was surprised that Willie did not bark at Michael when he came over but they took to one another as if it was meant to be.  I believe that Willie is in very good hands.  We will miss Willie because he was a very good dog with a wonderful temperament.  What I wont miss is Willie’s energy levels and how he always seemed to whip the other two dogs into a frenzy whenever he wanted to.  Willie also loves to chew on window screens and jump through them at any opportunity.  Willie sort of reminded me of the movie “Marlie and Me”.  If you saw that movie then that dog is just like how Willie is.

Spring semester is wrapping up in the next month and it could not be soon enough. I am doing fairly good on most of my grades so hopefully my GPA did not slip too much.  I only took three classes this semester compared to four but I think I was able to keep up with things a little better.  Working a full time job and going to school full time is not for the faint hearted.  I am looking forward to having some mental time off this summer but I know that August and the Fall semester will be upon me before I know it.

We are planning on moving to West Ashley sometime in the month of June and we are looking forward to it.  Thanks to the economy our landlord is being forced to sell the home we are living in here on Johns Island.  The sale will be a short sale for anyone that is interested and he is selling it under market value.  We live in a 3 bedroom 2 bath house with a great room with vaulted ceiling , fire place , one car garage and large fenced back yard.  This would be great for a couple looking to settle down in an awesome neighborhood.  I realize that my description of the house sounded like a advertisement but I want to make sure that everyone knows the house we are in is for sale.  We have an awesome landlord and I am praying that he can sell it and get out from underneath the added financial burden that this has become.

Once our move to West Ashley is complete we are plotting an escape back to Texas for a week or longer in order to take a break and visit friends and family that live in Seguin, Houston, Corpus Christi, Wharton and the Dallas Ft Worth area. It will be good to get away from work and be able to relax a little bit and see all the folks again.  It has been six years since we have been back home and that is entirely too long to be away from family.
