Surgery was a success

Katy received her brain surgery on Tuesday April 26th and it was successful.  I spoke to one of the neurosurgeons and he told me that they were able to separate the tumor from the brain and remove it.  The surgery was approximately 13 hours long.  There was some concern that they would possibly damage some facial nerves during the procedure but they feel confident that there wont be any long term affects from the surgery.

This surgery was successful thanks to loving support from friends and family who helped to donate 2,450.00 so that Katy could get this surgery.  We are both very thankful for your generosity and support during this season of life.  Our hope is that Katy’s quality of life will increase and that her balance issues have been fixed.  Katy still has a long road of recovery but we are confident that she will do well.

I set up a Facebook Surgery Update Group and we had 90+ people who were checking on Katy’s progress all through the day.  Thank you to those of you who showed your love and concern in such a tangible way.  I am glad that I was able to use Facebook to provide a centralized way of giving out updates.

Now that the surgery is over and Katy is in ICU the next step will be to transition away from the breathing tube and start down the road of getting into a regular hospital room.  From there Katy will progress to the point where she can come home and recover.  I am hopeful that by Friday she will be able to come home and rest here.

All we can do is take one day and one prayer at a time.  After all, our lives are not our own, they belong to our creator and redeemer Jesus Christ. Our hope is in Christ who is the restorer of all things that are broken.
