I do NOT understand

I realize that some of my thoughts below will not be received well.  Speaking out and saying how I feel, may be unpopular or considered bad blogging etiquette.  If that is the case, I would ask you to stop reading now, and go to the next blog post on your list.  You may or may not agree with me, but I feel that I need to put some of my thoughts in writing.  I am doing this because I am looking around at the things that are going on in the United States of America, and I do not understand.

Please bring home our armed forces troops – I feel as if we may be spread so thin that the defense of our country and our borders might be compromised.  I understand why our leaders felt it necessary to retaliate against those people or person’s who attacked us on Sept 11, 2001.  We made our point, and now it should be time for us to withdraw and come home.

Seal our borders, and keep out illegal immigrants, by enforcing current immigration laws-  I learned today that our President has granted amnesty for all illegal immigrants living in our country, and is passing out free work permits to them.  I vote that we remove the bureaucratic red tape, that makes it impossible for illegal immigrants that are already here to become citizens.

If you have broken the laws of the United States of America, or your originating country, then you should not be allowed to become a citizen of the United States of America. In other words, if you have been convicted of a felony offense such as crimes against people or property then you should be disqualified for being a citizen of our nation.  We already have our fair share of criminals, within our borders.  I do not understand why we need to add more.

Before you holler that I am being insensitive to illegal immigrants, consider this. My sister and I are naturalized citizens.  We are legal immigrants.  Our parents adopted us in Germany and brought us to America.  We had to follow immigration laws and fulfill certain requirements to become US Citizens.  I will never forget being 8 years old, standing in a Federal Courtroom in Dallas Texas saying I pledge Allegiance to the United States of America.  I entered this country legally and I do not understand why it is now ok for people to bypass our immigration laws and do otherwise.

Rich people in America should have to shoulder their fair share of paying taxes.  Middle class Americans, and poor people have shared that burden alone, for way too long. I have been a card carrying, and voting Republican for way too long. Why does the Republican party NOT want rich people to pay their fair share of taxes? Why are we bailing out corporations that FAIL to manage their financial affairs with our hard earned tax dollars?  If my family fails to balance our family budget, then we are expected (as we should be) to suffer the consequences for bad financial decisions.  Why are corporations and banks not required to shoulder the same consequences?  Where did this elitist mentality come from?

Lets start to focus more on the homeless and hungry people within our borders, and less on the homeless and hungry people outside of our borders. It is a crying shame that we have veterans of foreign wars that are sleeping on the streets of our cities doing without medical care and basic necessities. Every time I turn on the television or pick up printed media I am bombarded with requests to send my money over seas to help  starving people in third world countries.  Does that mean that I am heartless and that I do not care about suffering people?  No, all I am saying is that we should focus on the needs at home first, before we focus on needs outside of our borders.  Like I said, I do not understand.

Lets elect people to government  office (at all levels)  that want to represent the people and not special interest groups on Capitol Hill. Special Interest groups pump millions of dollars into the pockets of our elected officials in order for their agenda to be converted into law.  This has been going on for way too long.  It is time that special interest groups be removed from Capitol Hill.

Let’s enact laws that will force our elected officials to live by the same laws that they enact. In other words, you live by the same rule of law that you expect the citizens to live by.  Just because you are an elected representative of the people, does not mean you are entitled to free health care for the rest of your life.  Like I said, I do not understand.

Lets elect people to government office ( at all levels) that know how to balance a budget.  In other words stop spending more money than we have. The last time I looked I thought that we were supposed to be a democratic society.  It seems as if our country is morphing into a socialist republic that converts elected officials to the position of a czar.  Where in the world does the title czar come from in our constitution?  Can someone please point this out to me.  I do not remember studying about czar’s in American History or government classes when I went to school.

Lets stop invading other countries, blowing them up and then using our tax dollars to rebuild them after we are done. Color me stupid folks but how does that begin to make sense?  We spend millions and billions of our tax dollars to attack another nation and blow them up, destroy their cities, topple their governments, kill their people.  Then we turn around and spend more money to rebuild their cities, bury their dead and attempt to recreate our way of life in a foreign land.  I just do not understand how that works or why it is even supposed to be normal.

CAGW TV AD: Citizens Against Government Waste highlights U.S. debt owed to China

The following video will get your blood to boiling so let that be a warning to those of you that would rather not get upset.  I understand that it is not popular to blog about religion, politics or personal finances however I feel that we need to pull our heads out of the quick sand and do something about this together as citizens before it is too late.  Watch the video and come to your own conclusions.

I want to be the first to say that “politics” is not my cup of tea.  I really try to “ignore” it as much as possible because I really do not know who to believe when it comes to the propaganda that we are being fed via mainstream media.  No, I do not believe there is a huge conspiracy that our government has perpetuated in order to pull the wool over our collective eyes here in America.

My question is “who DO we believe?”   Can we believe the Democrats, the Republicans or whom else on Capital Hill?  I am being faced with the fact that as an American who has the privilege to vote that I am just as much to blame as the next person.  I am to blame because I have not always voted.  I figured that I was too ignorant about politics and really did not know anyone that was smart enough or had the time to educate me on the issues.  I was also very lazy and used the excuse that my tiny little vote probably did not count anyway.  I spent way too much time lying to myself and believing that.  Over the years I have gotten wiser and I now believe that it is my responsibility as a tax paying American to learn about the politics and investigate as much as I can as to what the real issues are and who can I believe the most.

Getting back to the video and assuming that you watched enough of it here is a thought.  How in the blazes did we as Americans allow our government to get us into 13.7 TRILLION dollars in debt to begin with?  Someone please do the math but that is  a lot of zeros.  Welcome to American capitalistic greed folks.  I am all about us, the American people, doing something to fix it.  How can we fix this?  Sadly enough it is going to take much smarter people than I to figure that one out.

One of the things that I think that needs to happen is that we need to fire most, if not all of the people on capital hill.  I would love to see a caravan of U-Haul trucks with tons of boxes and pink slips heading to our nations capital and booting out all of the “fat cats” that are doing nothing but passing stupid laws and putting us further and further into debt.  While we are firing all  of the worthless good for nothing politicians we need to eject all of the special interest groups while we are at it.

One of the other mysteries that I do not understand is that while we are going to be held accountable for the horrendous national debt what about the other countries out in the world that owe the U.S.A. tons of money for all of the loans we have shelled out?  Over the years I have seen news reports where our government has gone into third world countries and used our hard earned tax dollars to bail out other economies. If my memory serves me correctly we have been guilty of going into a third world country, blowing it up and then paying more money to rebuild it.  Can someone please explain the logic to that thought process please?  Maybe it is time for our government to spend less money on senseless wars that last 8 years and spend some of that money on our own internal issues and needs.

I think that the first step to stopping the debt and getting back to the road of recovery is to stop spending our tax dollars in wasteful endeavors.  We need to elect officials to government that can balance a budget and keep us in the positive.  We need a plan to stop wasteful spending and to start paying back the debt that we owe.  Is there anyone in America that is up to that challenge?  I certainly hope so before it is too late.

One of the things that needs to be in the forefront of our minds is that while we may never fully realize or experience the fall out from what might happen in 2030 our children and their children will most certainly experience those consequences.  Is that the legacy that we want to pass on to our children and our grandchildren?
