I want to start out 2014 by wishing my readers a very Happy, safe and prosperous New Year in 2014!
How did we celebrate New Years eve? We did what we normally did, which was to stay home.
How did you celebrate New Years eve dear reader?
As for new years resolutions I have none. Instead of resolutions that I know I will break, I have some simple goals.
- live a simpler life free from worry and stress
- live one day at a time and quit worrying about tomorrow
- to make the best I can out of today’s circumstances using what I have
- to love people more and respect their differences
- be less critical of myself and stop beating myself up
- to be less selfish and more loving and giving to my family
- to focus more on being a servant leader
I am sure that most of us, when looking back at 2013 have our fair share of disappointments or regrets. Maybe we had goals we did not reach or we failed to grow in areas that we had hoped to. We can do one of two things. We can allow the regret to defeat and deflate us, or we can learn from the failures and mistakes and try to do better.
So, how do we do better? What will we do differently? I believe that 2014 will provide us with the opportunity to push the reset button and wipe the slate clean. I want to start out with a more positive attitude than before. Maybe some of the battles we face so often start in our minds and hearts. Perspective and attitude is everything. Is the glass half empty or half full. Will I chose to be an optimist and believe things can be better or do I chose to be a pessimist? Do chose to be positive about a given situation or do I automatically assume the worse?
I believe that each of us has the power to make real and lasting changes in our lives and it starts with our attitude. I want to have an attitude of gratitude and grace in this new year. I want to always remember that we are blessed beyond our wildest imaginations. Blessing does not always equal material wealth or things either. Having good health and a sound mind are more precious than things. Having a place to live and call home and a loving family, is more precious than all the gold in the world. We do not find peace and joy in the things of this world. We find those things within our own hearts and minds.
We are starting our new year off by moving to a new location in Goose Creek SC. I guess you could say we are moving back to our SC home where we started out in 2000. We are moving closer to one of our church families and closer to Katy’s new job. We will be in a more peaceful and serene surroundings which I am very much looking forward to. I am looking forward to seeing what 2014 has in store for my friends and family.
So, having said all of this, lets do this people! Ready….. Set…. Go!!
